However, due to mechanization of agriculture the cow, are kept for only milk production. The Indian breed like Sahiwal and Giri are milk breed.
However, high yielding exotic breeds of North American and European breed like Holstein and Jersey are adding to increasing milk production of India. But male calves produce it is burden.

- It is available for only Jersey and Holstein breed.
- The cost is 1000 and 2000 rupees.
- Sex semen only works in heifer. In cows, it is not successful.
- It is not freely available in country.
- This type of semen is not produce in India.
The good news is that at Hissar, Haryana, India, centre for research on buffalo (CIRB) is stabilising a sex semen laboratory. So, indigenous produce semen will be available on low cost. And the sex semen of Indian milk breed and buffalo will be available in near future. Baba Ramdev has also signed MOU with western countries for making sexing of semen technology available in India only.
To solve problem of conception in cows will be solved by producing embryos through IVF technique in future. Following are the advantages.
- Replacement of herd will be fast.
- Partial control on cow slaughter.
- Fodder problem will be solving.
